Bloody Monday: Volume 2 Review

271753-_sx1280_ql80_ttd_Bloody Monday is a series written by  Ryumon Ryou and was illustrated by Megumi Kouji. The first volume was published on 25th of October 2011. This volume features the next eight chapters (06-14). You can read my review of the first volume here. After decoding and analysing the “Christmas Massacre” video, Fujimaru discovers a woman in the background, a woman who looks almost identical to Ms. Orihara. Finding this awfully suspicious Fujimaru begins to investigate his teacher to determine if she had any involvement with the video. However, Ms. Orihara (Maya) has ensured a sound alibi. Once again, free from suspicion Ms. Orihara continues to pursue “Bloody Monday”. Fujimaru doesn’t have much time to rest easy as Haruka, his younger sister, get kidnapped. In order to get her back, Fujimaru must conform to his enemies demands by using his super genius hacking skills.

My Review: Bloody Monday: Volume 2 pack a lot more into it than the previous volume, the story has picked up its pace as the pieces start falling into place. This volume has almost double the hacking tropes as the last one, complete with its own “Zoom, Enhance” moment, which I couldn’t help roll my eyes at. I do have to say, there is a strong tension during the time where Haruka is kidnapped, the book becomes a frantic page-turner that delivers a big adrenaline rush that doesn’t let up until the end. Needless to say, it was pretty good. The plot so far hasn’t been too bad, although, I do think that it feels a bit shallow or superficial. Other than that, I’m liking the series so far and I intend to continue my reviews.

I rate this manga 6/10.

Thanks for reading!
