I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying Review

UntitledI Can’t Understand What My Husband is Saying saw its first episode released during late 2014. This short series focuses on  Kaoru, a regular everyday office worker and her marriage to a chronic Otaku called Hajime. She must learn to deal with his unconventional behaviour and bazaar job of blogging about anime. The show then explores the similarities and differences between Otakus and non-Otakus and their life in urban Japan. As the show progresses Kaoru tries her best to change Hajime and convert him out of his Otaku ways.

My Review: Not really a whole lot to say about this one. The episodes an incredibly short, only lasting a little more than three minutes. Further towards the end, I noticed that each episode became progressively longer, however, I also found the later episodes to be less funny and engaging. All that being said I found that we do get a nice little look at Otaku culture and how the general public perceives them. Watching how the wife tried to force her otaku husband to change to be more “normal” was something I think many of us can relate too. I can’t say I recommend this anime, however, if you are stuck for something to watch or just have some time to kill then I can’t see any reason not to give it a watch.

I rate this anime 1.5/5.

  1. Its funny, this anime was actually very endearing to me. It was the first thing I watched with my first crunchyroll subscription and I have to say the light comedy and easy going episodes did wonders to my mood. To me this anime was just an easy going light hearted approach to life and the some of the normal slice’o life animes don’t compare to.
